today’s project

Friday, August 29th, 2008

Since today is pre-holiday-weekend slow, I’ve been compiling a list of as many retailers as possible, and it’s now up on the Publications page.

And can I just say how much it thrills me to see how many countries my books are available in. ‘Cause it thrills me a lot.

From Rainbow Reviews. Thanks, Jan!

ain’t too proud to beg

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

This is something I’m not terribly comfortable asking, but I’ve been thinking about it for a couple days and I’ve decided the worst result is that no one does it. So.

If you have read any of my books, please leave reviews or ratings for them, particularly at Torquere Books or Amazon. It doesn’t need to be a huge review: even just a “I own it” and a star rating at Amazon will be a boost.

If you do write a review, be honest: this isn’t about my ego. Even a mediocre review is better than no review at all. Reviews help sales; sales earns me more royalties; more royalties brings me closer to the day I can write full time. Everybody wins. (Well, I hope you think it’s a winning situation for you: I can only assume you’re here because you like what I write.)

New reviews for The King’s Diamond & Something Beautiful

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

New reviews for Diamond at Literary Nymphs and Amazon, which also has new reviews for Something Beautiful. Thanks, everyone!

(Also . . . I get a little bit of a thrill when there’s a “customers who bought this also bought . . .” list. That’s so awesome.)

Something Beautifiul by Jenna Jones

From the Torquere Press site:

In this follow up to Jenna Jones’ popular novel Chiaroscuro, Dune Bellamy and Micah Ferguson have become best friends. Between Micah’s string of boyfriends and Dune’s lovers, they have plenty to talk about, especially when a trip to Europe leaves Micah alone, while back home, Dune’s first love turns up again.

After a brief fling in Paris, Micah returns home to an unhappy Dune, who’s trying to fend off his ex’s attentions. When Micah steps in, Dune starts to see his friend as something more, which creates a whole new set of problems. Dune’s not sure he wants to ruin their friendship, but he and Micah agree to give it a try.

Micah has family problems to deal with, Dune has his ex stalking him, and the pressure soon comes between them, driving Dune back into the arms of the dangerous Gavin, who wants to control his every move. Can Micah deal with his sisters, and find a way to convince Dune that they deserve another chance? Something Beautiful is all about the family we chose, as well as the one we’re born with, and if they’re lucky, something beautiful will come of it for Micah and Dune.

Something Beautiful is available in ebook and print.

Tomorrow Something Beautiful comes out.

I’ll be hosting the Torquere Social community tomorrow. I have discussions, snippets, a contest and some flashfic planned, and of course all the information you’ll need to get your copy. I’ll mirror a lot of it here so even non-Livejournal people can participate.

I confess to being worried about the sophomore slump, but the reaction so far has been positive so I’m crossing my fingers it’ll continue to be so. (”Being worried” could also be interpreted as “freaking the hell out”, in a certain light. I don’t think I’m going to sleep much tonight.)

But! Tomorrow is the big day. That’s the important thing.

the shop is open!

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

My Cafe Press shop is now open! There’s just one design available at the moment but I’ll be adding more. I’ll also take suggestions for products (depending on what’s available from Cafe Press, of course) and designs to add.

My favorite is the barbecue apron.

And now, have a little excerpt from Something Beautiful. The countdown to the release date is on!

state of the write

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

I see from my web stats that somebody’s been searching for more news about upcoming releases, so here’s what’s coming up.

  • Something Beautiful will be out later this year. This is the next of the San Francisco stories and will focus on Micah and Dune. I’ll be doing some stuff to celebrate when it comes out, so watch for a contest or two over the summer.
  • The Birthstone story, currently called Diamond, will be out in late April. This is the historical fantasy I posted a snippet of a few months ago.
  • I’m currently working on the third of the San Francisco stories, verrrrrry slooooooooowly. I could start posting stats as an incentive to myself . . . It’s called Cartography for Beginners and focuses on Leo.
  • Next year I’ll be publishing a novella in Torquere Press’s Arcana line, but that’s all a bit vague at the moment. (I have a card and a due date. Beyond that, patience, grasshopper.)

I’m sorry to be so vague. I’ll have more details when I get them.

the kind of news that makes me giggle with glee

Friday, January 4th, 2008

I am very pleased to announce that Torquere Press will be publishing the sequel to Chiaroscuro, Something Beautiful, sometime this year.

Details as I get them.

(Also, there are no words quite as good as “You’re selling.” It’s like telling an actor, “You got the part.”)
