Something Beautifiul by Jenna Jones

From the Torquere Press site:

In this follow up to Jenna Jones’ popular novel Chiaroscuro, Dune Bellamy and Micah Ferguson have become best friends. Between Micah’s string of boyfriends and Dune’s lovers, they have plenty to talk about, especially when a trip to Europe leaves Micah alone, while back home, Dune’s first love turns up again.

After a brief fling in Paris, Micah returns home to an unhappy Dune, who’s trying to fend off his ex’s attentions. When Micah steps in, Dune starts to see his friend as something more, which creates a whole new set of problems. Dune’s not sure he wants to ruin their friendship, but he and Micah agree to give it a try.

Micah has family problems to deal with, Dune has his ex stalking him, and the pressure soon comes between them, driving Dune back into the arms of the dangerous Gavin, who wants to control his every move. Can Micah deal with his sisters, and find a way to convince Dune that they deserve another chance? Something Beautiful is all about the family we chose, as well as the one we’re born with, and if they’re lucky, something beautiful will come of it for Micah and Dune.

Something Beautiful is available in ebook and print.

Tomorrow Something Beautiful comes out.

I’ll be hosting the Torquere Social community tomorrow. I have discussions, snippets, a contest and some flashfic planned, and of course all the information you’ll need to get your copy. I’ll mirror a lot of it here so even non-Livejournal people can participate.

I confess to being worried about the sophomore slump, but the reaction so far has been positive so I’m crossing my fingers it’ll continue to be so. (”Being worried” could also be interpreted as “freaking the hell out”, in a certain light. I don’t think I’m going to sleep much tonight.)

But! Tomorrow is the big day. That’s the important thing.

Damalepazhur is the king of a land long ago and far away, and he really needs the fabled diamond he’s heard of for protection. The diamond is a young man named Ketu, a fisherman, and he reluctantly joins the palace household, and learns to have a fondness for the king, even if court life is strange to him.

When a stranger comes to the city and tries to turn the people against Damalepazhur, Ketu steps in to do his job, revealing the identity and the plot of the stranger, putting himself right in the path of danger. Will Damalepazhur be able to thank Ketu the way he wants to?

lecture series: chiaroscuro

(This probably won’t be a regular thing, actually, but I had to call this post something.)

Because this has come up a time or two in conversation with readers, it feels like time to explain what chiaroscuro is and why I chose it as the title for my first novel. Bear with me: I was a humanities major in college and can ramble on about the things I love for quite some time.

Ben Gallagher doesn’t do love. He likes his life just the way it is: he has an up-and-coming wedding cake business and his pick of the available men in San Francisco. He learned his lesson about love with his ill-fated marriage, and now thinks no further than the next morning when it comes to relationships.

Jamie Makepeace has been searching for true love–the trouble is, he doesn’t quite know what true love looks like. He’s been perfectly content to pine after his coworker from afar, occasionally sleep with his best friend, and wait for love to find him.

There’s no denying chemistry when it meets fate; and with the help of their friends Ben and Jamie will see through the dark into the light of true love.
