Little tweaks here and there

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

I’ve installed a guest book for people who’d like to say hello but don’t want to comment on a specific blog post.

I’ve also changed the name of the wedding story preview in the Upcoming section: “My secret music boyfriend” was always intended to be a working title, and I think I’ve found a title that’s a bit more evocative of the story as it’s currently shaping up: “Apples and Gin”, as in a song lyric by one of the characters.

(Insert Yours Humbly giggling with glee here.)

I’ve also updated the excerpt, as a lot’s happened with that story since I first posted about it.

Two more titles have also been added to the Upcoming section, though they do not have excerpts yet as I don’t have anything to post. A Taste of Honey is the next in the San Francisco series, and will focus on Ben and Jamie again; and The Queen of Wands is another in the Arcana imprint for Torquere Press. I’ll activate those links as soon as I have something to show.

I’m hosting torquere_social today and have kicked it all off with a discussion of writer’s block.

ask the author

Friday, October 10th, 2008

It’s my ask the author day on the torquere_social mailing list. If you’re a member of the list, feel free to stop by and get the answers to all those burning questions you’ve had about my books.

the Support blog roll

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

Recently I explained the links in the My Places blogroll, and I thought I’d do the same for the Support blogroll. There are hundreds of worthy causes out there. These are just a few that are close to my heart.

  • FreeRice.org is very simple: test yourself on vocabulary words, and for each definition you get correct, FreeRice.org donates 20 grains of rice (and more, the more you get correct in a row) through the UN Word Food Program.
  • Keep Sean Alive.com. Sean is a friend-of-a-friend: a promising artist and health care worker who was recently diagnosed with cancer and does not have health insurance to cover medical costs. The link includes donation information as well as his art portfolio, and information on past and future fundraisers.
  • One Laptop Per Child donates inexpensive, open source laptops to children in developing countries.
  • RAINN is a sexual assault help and support site.
  • Riverkids works to stop child trafficking in Cambodia through fundraisers and education.
  • Women for Women International supports job training, education and small business loans to women in developing nations.
  • Yellow Ribbon.org is a suicide prevention site.

Also, you may notice that the site (and my livejournal) are much pinker than usual. I have gone Pink for October, which supports National Breast Cancer Awareness month. If you have breasts or love someone who does, consider donating to a fund like the Susan G. Koman fund and remember to do a monthly breast exam.

Torqurere Press anniversary celebration

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

Visit Torquere Press’s Road of a Relationship board and click on Day 20 to read my short story, “Vows.”

Also as part of the anniversary celebration, Torquere Press has released a collection of Wedding Sips, the profits and royalties of which will be donated to the Lambda Legal and other GLBT legal funds.

moving right along

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Torquere Press has moved its books and press site to their own servers, which means URLs have changed all over the place. I’ve updated the URLs for my books on their publications pages and will catch them in blog entries at a later date.

I will also be working on the layout for jj.com today, so expect things to be in flux a bit.

Happy Birthday, Torquere Press!

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Part of Torquere Press’s anniversary celebrations is the Road of a Relationship board game. Like our Advent calendar in December, click a new tile every day for a story, anecdote or recipe, special offers and clues for the scavenger hunt. Have fun!

September Scavenger hunt

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

My publisher, Torquere Press, is marking its fifth anniversary in September. To celebrate they’re having all sorts of specials and games, including a scavenger hunt.

Find the Scavenger Hunt button somewhere on JennaJones.com, collect buttons from the other participating authors, and you could win a Kindle E-book reader loaded with Torquere Press books.

At the end of September one winner will be randomly selected out all of the correct contestants.

Winners must be 18 or over. Please see the scavenger hunt central page for rules and a list of participating authors.

today’s project

Friday, August 29th, 2008

Since today is pre-holiday-weekend slow, I’ve been compiling a list of as many retailers as possible, and it’s now up on the Publications page.

And can I just say how much it thrills me to see how many countries my books are available in. ‘Cause it thrills me a lot.

a small change

Monday, August 18th, 2008

I’ve decided to remove the links to retailers from the books’ pages. I can’t keep up! But all three of my books are available from numerous sources beyond Torquere Press directly.

I may make a retailers master list at some point, but I’m still making up my mind about that.

the shop is open!

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

My Cafe Press shop is now open! There’s just one design available at the moment but I’ll be adding more. I’ll also take suggestions for products (depending on what’s available from Cafe Press, of course) and designs to add.

My favorite is the barbecue apron.

And now, have a little excerpt from Something Beautiful. The countdown to the release date is on!
