more techie stuff

Friday, January 25th, 2008

I’ve given jennajones.com a facelift . . . one of several lately, I admit, though I think this one will last a while as I’m very happy with how the site looks and behaves right now.

I’ve also done some reorganizing to prepare for future events, and put up a little news section so you can see what’s up with me and mine at a glance.

I think my geek drive has been satisfied for the day.

pardon our dust

My apologies to anybody who’s been on the site today while I’ve been messing with themes. While part of the fun of using Wordpress is how easy it is to change looks, that ease is also what makes it so tempting to change a blog’s look five times a day.

lecture series: chiaroscuro

(This probably won’t be a regular thing, actually, but I had to call this post something.)

Because this has come up a time or two in conversation with readers, it feels like time to explain what chiaroscuro is and why I chose it as the title for my first novel. Bear with me: I was a humanities major in college and can ramble on about the things I love for quite some time.

Chiaroscuro is one of the nominees for the Preditors & Editors readers’ poll.

Wow. That’s very cool. If it was one of you all, thank you very much :).

(Apparently winners get a GIF that says “best story in the universe.” I LOVE IT.)

I’m having the kind of day where you just want to curl up with a blanket and some cocoa and let the world get on without you for a while. Of course, I can’t, so . . . have a piece of what I wish I were doing right now.

This is for the Birthstone line. It’s an experiment for me, in genre, style and subject matter. I hope it works. (Snippet is SFW.)

boring techie stuff

The good news is, the crossposter seems to be working. The bad news is, in the process of trying to make it work I deleted the old entires on this journal. The good news is, I had them backed up through LJ archive. The bad news is, that file is on my laptop that crashed in November and I haven’t had the spare cash to get it fixed yet. The good news is, I still have all (I think) of the old entries. The bad news is, I don’t have the comments.

I think it about breaks even, don’t you?

the kind of news that makes me giggle with glee

I am very pleased to announce that Torquere Press will be publishing the sequel to Chiaroscuro, Something Beautiful, sometime this year.

Details as I get them.

(Also, there are no words quite as good as “You’re selling.” It’s like telling an actor, “You got the part.”)
